ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Nelson Cruz homered twice last night as the Texas Rangers defeated the Oakland Athletics 8-7. A.J. Pierzynski added three RBIs for the Rangers, who snapped a 6-game losing streak. Neal Cotts earned the victory in relief and Joe Nathan picked up his 21st save.

HOUSTON (AP) - Dayan Viciedo hit a three-run triple last night to lift the Chicago White Sox to a 4-2 victory over the Houston Astros. Paul Konerko added an RBI single to help the White Sox snap a 4-game losing streak. Jason Castro had two run-scoring doubles for the Astros.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Scouting and player development have paid off for the San Antonio Spurs during the NBA Finals. Gary Neal scored 24 points in San Antonio's Game 3 victory, and Danny Green has set the finals record for made three-pointers. The Spurs can close out the Miami Heat tonight in Game 6.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas men's track coach Bubba Thornton is retiring after 18 years and 12 conference championships. The university says Thornton and athletic director DeLoss Dodds mutually agreed to terminate the coach's contract effective August 31st. Thornton's teams also produced 26 individual NCAA champions.
