Community Banks Also Pass Stress Test

The government released results of it's stress tests on the nation's 19 largest banks.

Some of the biggest ones like Bank of America are considered stable, even though they need to raise billions more in capital.

The federal reserve said the findings show the financial system, like the overall economy, is healing but is not healed yet.

"The leaders of our nation's banks have a lot to do to earn back the public's trust. And to do that, we want to see them working hard in their communities, making the loans to businesses and consumers that are going to be so important to economic recovery," said Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

The banks that need more capital will have until June 8 to develop a plan and have it approved by their regulators.

But across North Texas, many smaller banks have been stress tested for months now. FOX 4's Matt Grubs reports, they're passing.
