DALLAS - The last week of rain has done more than dampen fall spirits. It's dampened the bottom line at one North Texas pumpkin patch.
Rick Kimbrell said his Big Orange Pumpkin Farm in Celina has far fewer big and orange pumpkins this year. He’s lost nearly 3,000 pumpkins because of the rainy weather.
"I get real grumpy when it's rainy in October," he said.
More than 10 days of rain and overcast skies has also run off big crowds. Much of his patch is under water and normally basketball size pumpkins have only grown to the size of cantaloupes, Kimbrell said.
He hopes the sun comes out soon. He said generally nobody – save for hungry cows – wants pumpkins in November.
