DALLAS - The pastor of Fellowship Church and the man who created AshleyMadison.com , a website for those who want to cheat on their spouse, went head to head on the topic of adultery Thursday.
Site creator Noel Biderman and Pastor Ed Young debated a year ago in front of cameras for a nightly news program. This time they were being recorded by HBO as part of a documentary on adultery in the United States.
It’s definitely a hot topic.
Biderman said his site allows people who are trying to have an affair on the side to do it discreetly.
“At least here you have a community of like-minded adults who are aggregated together and everybody knows what they’re getting into,” he said.
Young said he’ll put God’s view up against any view, any time or night.
“I want people to come away with, ‘Hey, God thought sex up. It was his idea and when we do it his way then the results can be incredible,” he said.
People lined up early for the sex talk.
David and Nicki Lipsy have attended both debates. They said they don’t buy the argument that AshleyMadison.com can help people cheat in order to save their marriage.
“We apply God’s principals to our marriage anyway, so it’s not something we would be interested in,” they said.
But with a multi-billion porn industry and the site that boasts 8.5 million users, obviously some people agree with the concept.
“Even though it seems like wow, we’re fighting an enemy that we can’t win, you know I’ve read the last page and the Bible says we win,” Young said.
And what about morals or the unintended consequences of cheating like divorce, domestic troubles and fractured families?
“Do sometimes people ultimately leave their partnerships? For sure. But I don’t think that would have not happened one way or another,” Biderman said.
