DALLAS - Hateful vandals attacked a north Dallas church Sunday evening, police said.

When Pastor David Wilson arrived at Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church Monday morning to start the ministry work week, he found satanic symbols and ugly words spray painted across the building’s walls and windows.

“I was like, ‘Oh Lord, after all the good we try to do, the Devil is trying to kill us,’” Wilson said. “Anybody would be so disrespectful towards people and especially the things of God, it hurts my heart.”

Dallas police said the vandalism at the church can be considered a hate crime.

“This would be an act of violence. It’s very offensive and very insulting to the church and to this neighborhood,” said Sr. Cpl. Janice Crowther.

Wilson said the church has been on the corner of Forest Lane since 1996 and has never had problems in the community.

“It kind of saddens me and yet it reminds me just what kind of world we live in and how desperately we need to get the message out of Christ,” he said.

The church plans to stay its course while police search for those responsible.
