2 Shot in Running Gunbattle

DALLAS - Two people are hospitalized after an argument between a man and a woman became a full-scale gunfight spread across at least three apartment complexes.

Police got their first call around 10:40 p.m. at the the Mandalay Palms Apartments in the 7400 block of Chesterfield Drive in the Red Bird area of southwest Dallas. A man had shotgun wounds to his legs.

Moments later another man showed up at Methodist Charlton Hospital with a gunshot wound to the back. His car, parked out in front of the emergency entrance, had a bullet hole in it.

Soon officers got several calls from other nearby complexes and eventually determined that two apartments were peppered with bullets or buckshot, as was one other car.

Investigators say there was at least a pistol and a shotgun involved, if not other weapons.

Police are searching for suspects and say there are several crimes at play here, including criminal mischief, aggravated assault, and deadly conduct.
