DALLAS - A Dallas narcotics is under investigation after his old locker was opened at the Southwest Patrol Station. FOX 4 is not naming him because he is an undercover officer.
Police sources said there were sealed evidence bags with crack pipes and syringes and a handful of citations inside the locker.
The citations were supposed to be turned in to city court. Some were from 2003, sources said.
The officer moved to the Narcotics Division years ago. He hasn't worked at the Southwest Substation for some time but still had a locker there.
A sergeant notified him that the locker was going to be opened because they needed lockers for rookie officers who were being assigned there. The officer apparently didn't respond so the lock was cut and everything inside was logged.
An internal affairs investigation has been requested.
The officer could be punished for improperly handling evidence or found property.
