ARLINGTON, Texas - A 6-year-old Arlington boy died from his injuries after police said his teenage sister dragged him with the family car.
Police said the 14-year-old got into an argument with her parents Wednesday afternoon. Despite not having a license or permit, she got into their car and took off down the street.
Her younger brother tried to get into the car at the same time. He sustained head injuries after being dragged across the driveway.
“It’s still unclear whether or not she knew that her little brother was trying to get in the vehicle. Officers have her in custody and have had conversations with her,” said Arlington police spokeswoman Tiara Richard.
Neighbor Deborah Zilinsky said both the teen and her brother seemed like great kids. Her 20-year-old son often taught the boy skateboarding tricks.
“He would cover over and ask Tyler if he would come out and play and they would skateboard together. Tyler would teach him things about skateboarding,” Zilinsky said. “He was just very sweet, a very wonderful little boy.”
Police said the teenage girl was charged with failing to stop and render aid and injury to a child.
