DALLAS - Erykah Badu's controversial new video is setting off alarms with questions about nudity, public lewdness and respect to a fallen president.

The R&B singer, who is a Dallas native, strips naked during a walk in front of Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum, to the spot where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

Several children can be seen among the crowd of tourists at the popular site.

The video for the song "Window Seat" was shot on St. Patrick's Day and starts with a shot of the Dallas singer parking a classic car on Houston Street in front of Dealey Plaza.

In one long continuous shot, Badu walks up Houston street toward the former Texas School Book Depository. As she walks, she slowly peels off her clothes and drops them on the street.

For a short time, she is wearing only a bra and panties, and then takes those items off as well, before a gunshot sounds and Badu crumples to the ground.

The blue blood spreads from her headwound, spelling out "Groupthink" on the ground.

Badu posted reaction to the video shoot on her Twitter page.

"The people caught in the shot were trying hard to ignore me... it was the peeps off camera yelling," she wrote. "they were yelling , THIS IS A PUBLIC PLACE : YOU OUGHTA BE ASHAMED : PUT YOUR CLOTHES ON : DAMN GIRL! etc..."

Badu also offered insight on the bravery required to strip naked in front of dozens of total strangers.

"funny thing is, the physical nudity is nothing lol," she Tweeted. "i been naked all along in my words actions and deeds . thats the real vulnerable place."

The City of Dallas says the production company didn't have official permission to shoot.

"All commercial film/video or photo shoot projects must be permitted through the City of Dallas Office of Special Events / Film Coordinators," the city said in a media release. "The production company that produced this video never contacted the City to seek the proper permits.

This is known as guerilla filming where production companies circumvent the proper permitting procedures and usually shoot these scenes in one take knowing that if they are discovered they would face arrest and/or penalties."

On April 2, the Dallas Police Department decided to cite Badu for disorderly conduct , a Class C misdemeanor in Texas, punishable by a fine of up to $500.
