DALLAS - A year and a half after being sexually assaulted by three men, a college student is stepping forward to tell her story.
Monica Korra says she wants her experience, her name and her face to send a message of positive support to other victims.
She was leaving a friend's party in December 2009 when three men kidnapped her. She told FOX 4's Emily Lopez, while the crime was terrible, it will does not define who she is today.
"I learned something from it," said Korra. "The way I look at my life now is different. Before, I just took every day for granted, and now I know how vulnerable life is."
"I could have died that night, and I didn't," she said.
Three men were convicted of the crime last week in Dallas. Two were sentenced to life in prison. A third, who cooperated with prosecutors, will be sentenced this week.
