DALLAS - A security guard who worked at the Sixth Floor Museum has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing the downtown Dallas building last week.
Patrick Cleveland removed a safe from the premises on May 4 and tried to drive off with it, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department
A security guard interrupted the early-morning heist and fired at two thieves , who fled the scene. They left behind the safe, which was hanging from a winch fixed to the bed of a pickup truck.
Cleveland worked for Platinum Security, which provided services for the museum.
He has bonded out of jail.
However, the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are likely, officials said.
It was not clear if the safe contained any valuable items.
The Sixth Floor museum chronicles the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
