DUNCANVILLE, Texas - The Duncanville Police Department is looking for a man who they believe may have witnessed the murder of a donut shop employee earlier this month.
According to investigators, surveillance video from the July 14 crime shows a man near the shop where 38-year-old Carlos Martinez was killed and 44-year-old Chul Woong Nam was wounded .
The possible witness doesn’t match the description of the suspect. Police said they just want to talk to him to find out what he might have seen.
Police said they were surprised by the level of violence used in the case. But also there has been a surprising outpouring of love and support from the community for the victims.
Crime Victims Advocate Connie Bergara said the shops owners’ daughters have set up a fund to help raise money for Martinezs family in Mexico and to help with Nams medical bills. For more information, visit http://pledgie.com/campaigns/11867 .
“The Duncanville community has really reached out to these families to show their support and sense of loss in this tragic incident that has affected not only the families involved, but the community as a whole who for many years have considered this donut shop a meeting place for friends to mingle,” said Bergara.
Last week, Schepps Dairy also announced that it is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect who killed Martinez and injured Nam.
