PLANO, Texas - A Plano triathlete is recovering after she was injured by a hit and run driver.

Forty-two-year-old Debbie McGregor was training on her bicycle Wednesday evening on Windhaven Parkway near the Plano and The Colony border.

She was hit from behind by what police believe was a small silver or white car. The driver did not stop.

The impact threw McGregor about 25 yards. It destroyed her specialty bicycle.

She was taken to the hospital and treated for a concussion, fractured lower vertebrae and various cuts and scrapes.

“I don’t remember anything. I don’t remember wheels screeching. I don’t remember getting hit. The only thing I remember is waking up at the hospital,” she said.

McGregor said she is thankful that her injuries are not worse.

She plans to continue training as soon as she recovers and she hopes to still make it to the White Rock marathon in September.

Anyone with information about the suspect is encouraged to call The Colony police at 972-625-1887.
