DALLAS - A Dallas mother allegedly took her infant child with her into the Texas Workforce Commission building, but left her 2-year-old son alone in the hot car.
Police said a security guard called 911 after spotting the boy in the parking lot at 2707 Stemmons Freeway.
Gloria Arellano, 27, allegedly left the windows down about three inches, but the car was not running. Her son was unsupervised while temperatures soared in the triple digits.
Paramedics were able to rescue the boy. He was not hurt, just hot and sweating.
“I’m sure it was extremely hot in there. A small child like that isn’t going to survive too long in a car,” said Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse. “She obviously knew she had children in the car and took the small one and left the 2-year-old.”
Officers arrested Arellano for child endangerment. Both of her children were turned over to Child Protective Services.
