DALLAS - A woman hauling plywood died in an unusual crash late Thursday night in Dallas.
The incident happened at about 11:45 in the 11500 block of the southbound lanes of Harry Hines Boulevard, in the northwest section of the city.
According to police, the unidentified victim was killed when her Honda Passport sport utility vehicle struck a utility pole.
The woman, who was alone in the airbag-equipped vehicle and wearing a seatbelt, did not die because of the crash, police said. Rather, several sheets of plywood she was hauling in the SUV moved forward and crushed her during impact, they said.
Officials said if had the load been secured, the woman would likely have survived.
Investigators do not know what caused the crash.
