FORT WORTH, Texas - Police are hoping surveillance video will help them catch a man who robbed a convenience store in Fort Worth by cramming his body through the drive up window.

The ABC convenience store stays open late but locks the front door for security. Clerks make their sales through a drive up window.

Owner Fares Malalha thought it was a pretty safe plan up until now.

’I come here and I see his body half inside the window and the other half outside. I told him to go back. He didn’t listen. He pointed the gun at me,’ Malalha said.

Malalha said he pelted the crook with Pepsi cans while he was still wedged in the window. The owner tried to throw the whole case, but that plan fizzled.

He said the man threatened to shoot him so he gave up and got as far away from the gun as he could. He ran to a pay phone outside of the store to call 911.

The robber eventually made it inside the store and took about $400 from the cash register. He got away through the front door, but not without leaving one of his flip flops behind.

’It’s just crazy, you know, for anybody to come through the window. It is risking his life, you know, to get hurt,’ said Raymond Gamez, a customer at the store.

Malalha said he is cooperating with police in the investigation. And he said he is making changes to the way the window opens so that it won’t happen again.
