A 2-year old boy was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Highland Park.
The incident happened at about 5:08 when a 1990s Lincoln Town
Car struck a curb at Preston Road and Beverly Drive, police said.
They said the 19-year-old driver, a Seagoville resident, lost
control of the vehicle, which skidded into a grassy median, wedging
between a wall and a tree.
According to police, the teen told investigators that he had
been distracted by the toddler, who was sitting in the back seat.
The crash ejected the boy from his safety seat, wedging him
beneath the front passenger seat.
Rescuers cut the child from the car and rushed him to
Children's Medical Center in Dallas where he died a short time
later.
The driver was taken to a hospital with a serious head
injury.
Investigators said there were no immediate signs that the
teen was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
No charges had been filed but an investigation was
ongoing.
