CORSICANA, Texas - The Navarro County Sheriff says his office busted a pot farm worth $10 million.
A tip and helicopter surveillance video led investigators to 7,575 plants growing in a 48-acre field near the remote town of Angus, about 100 miles southeast of Dallas.
Sheriff spokesman Mike Cox said whoever is responsible went to great lengths to care for the marijuana crop.
The full-grown plants were watered with a drip irrigation system. Several camouflage camp sites were set up to house up to about 12 people in the field, Cox said.
Investigators are still trying to locate the owner of the property. They have not yet arrested anyone.
The bust was one of several recent discoveries in Navarro County.
“It’s something I hate to see in our county, but I
know with our rural location, with the amount of woods that
we’ve got and the water from creeks and stock ponds that
we’re going to have a problem with it,” said Sheriff
Les Cotton.
