Cabbie Burned, Throat Slit

DENTON COUNTY, Texas - The body of a cab driver was found in an oil field on Thursday night.

The victim's throat was slit and he was stabbed repeatedly, and burned, according to the Denton County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said Justin firefighters located the body at around 9 p.m. while fighting a grass fire at Highway 114 and John Day Road.

The man, who police said drove a van for the Freedom Cab Company in Irving, was stabbed several times in his chest area and his throat had been cut. The partially-burned man was wearing no shirt and carrying no identification.

Officials said they found the man's vehicle about a mile away and that there was a large amount of blood in the front and rear seats.

Investigators did not identify the man but said he had contact with the cab company at about 7:45 p.m.
