HIDALGO, Texas - Authorities are questioning a California carnival worker with a history as a sexual predator in the abduction of a 4-year-old South Texas girl.
No charges have been filed so far against 23-year-old Christian Elijalee McMillan in the abduction of Lesley Estefania Perez.
Police say the child was snatched while playing in her Hidalgo neighborhood Tuesday night. She was found last night at a rented farm in Mercedes, about 20 miles from her home.
The girl was taken to a hospital for examination and has been returned to her family. Hidalgo Police Chief Vernon Rosser says there was no immediate sign that she'd been injured.
Rosser says McMillan had scouted the child's neighborhood for three days before taking her. The Monitor of McAllen reported the girl was playing baseball with her older sister and other kids Tuesday night when a man stepped out of a white pickup, hit her sister on the head and grabbed Lesley.
