ARLINGTON, Texas - A jury on Monday reached a verdict in the case of an Arlington woman accused of a racially motivated attack on her Arlington neighbors.
Jurors sentenced 67-year-old Grace Head to a minimum of 180 days in jail and a maximum $4,000 fine.
The jury had rejected an insanity plea, finding her guilty on Friday of misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Head was charged in December 2007 for the aggravated assault of Silk Littlejohn and for scrawling racial graffiti on Littlejohn’s garage door, police said.
The case had prompted heated words from some civil rights activists who claimed the city's mayor was a racist.
However, Mayor Robert Cluck vehemently denied the allegations .
