Grill Brought inside Sickens 3

FORT WORTH - A mother and two small children are in the hospital after a man brought a grill inside a house while it was still smoking, police say.

That same man is accused of chasing the victims' husband out of the house with a knife.

The bizarre chain of events unfolded before dawn in the 2500 block of Houston Street in north Fort Worth.

A family rents the house with an adult male roommate. He is the one who allegedly brought the smoking grill into the house to protect it from the rain.

According to police, the home soon filled with smoke and possibly carbon monoxide.

Police say the woman who lived there, along with her two children, ages 21 months and 6 months, went to a nearby hospital.

The woman's husband stayed behind to deal with the roommate and called police. Before they arrived, he claims the roommate chased him out of the house with a knife.

Officers are now investigating the incident while the family recovers.
