Man Fatally Shot Child, Cops Say

A North Texas man is charged with murder in the early-morning shooting death of a young boy.

The incident happened just before 4 a.m. on Sunday in the at 7200 block of Interstate 45 in the town of Angus.

According to the Navarro County Sheriffs Office, Julio Briones Alonso shot the child, though details were not available.

Police arrested the 35-year-old and charged him with murder after the boy was pronounced dead at Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

Alonso was in the Navarro County Jail on Tuesday on a $75,000 bond.
