BALCH SPRINGS, Texas - Firefighters helped a mother of four evacuate her Balch Springs home after it flooded Thursday.
Mariah St. Amant told FOX 4 reporter Lynn Kawano that she tried to evacuate with her children when water began to creep into her home in the 12000 block of Forest Glen Court.
She took her two youngest children to safety first and then firefighters rescued the two older children.
The woman said evacuating is something her family has done before. They are victims of Hurricane Katrina.
"I moved here because of hurricane problems. I came here to get my family way from all that," said her husband Theo St. Amant.
But since then their new home has now flooded three times. In fact, they had just finished renovating because of another flood when water creeped into the house again Thursday.
The St. Amants and neighbors blame a nearby creek for the problem. But they're not sure who is responsible.
"It needs to be tended to. Nobody's tending to it at all," said neighbor Jimmy Nutt, whose home also flooded Thursday.
The St. Amants said they know they'll be evacuating again next time it pours if nothing is done.
