Kwame Rockwell Gets Death for Gas Station Murders

FORT WORTH, Texas - A North Texas jury has delivered a death sentence to a man convicted of capital murder in a 2010 convenience store holdup that left two men dead.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports a Tarrant County jury deliberated about 14 hours over two days before opting against a sentence of life imprisonment without parole for 36-year-old Kwame Rockwell.

The same jury returned its guilty verdict against the 32-year-old defendant Jan. 17 in the death of store clerk Daniel Rojas .

Also killed in the holdup of the store in southeastern Fort Worth was 70-year-old Mrs Baird's Bread deliveryman Jerry Burnett.

Lookout man Chance Smith got a 20-year prison term in return for testimony and a guilty plea to aggravated assault. Three men still await trial on capital murder charges
