PLANO, Texas - Plano police said a team of serial bank robbers struck again Friday morning hitting two banks in less than an hour.
The first robbery happened at about 10:30 a.m. at the Wells Fargo bank in the 1400 block of North Central Expressway.
Police said two men wearing masks walked in and demanded cash. They got away with some money, but some of it may have been stained and some of it flew out of their hands as they ran across a parking lot, police said.
Less than an hour later the men also robbed the Texans Credit Union bank just a few exits north on the freeway.
Police said again they wore masks, rushed in and pointed handguns at people.
“Well we do have a lot of bank robberies here that occur in the Metroplex where individuals will come into the bank; they’ll pass a note. These individuals, they came in armed with handguns and demanding the tellers and employees, customers to do specific things and threatened those individuals,” said Plano police officer Rick McDonald.
In both cases, police said the men ran out of the bank to a waiting getaway car.
They are investigating the crimes and looking at a connection between Friday’s robberies and other bank robberies in Plano on May 6. So far they have no leads, they said.
