Suspected Car Burglars Busted in Keller

KELLER, Texas - Three suspected car burglars are behind bars thanks to a tip from observant homeowners in Keller.

Police said a woman noticed a group of men trying to break in to her neighbor’s car in the 400 block of Hill Street at about 5 a.m. May 19. She called both police and her neighbor, who ran out in his pajamas to follow the suspects.

Officers were able to catch up to the suspects shortly after the crime. They discovered evidence linking them to several recent car burglaries, police said.

Police now suspect Dustin Popillion, Daniel Wallace and Brandon Evans are responsible for at least eight burglaries in the area. However, they do not believe the incidents are related to a string of car burglaries in the Trophy Club area .

Keller Police Chief Mark Hafner gives credit to the alert homeowners on Hill Street for the arrests.

“This is an excellent example of citizens who work with us to report a crime. Citizens being alert and calling us when they observe suspicious activity is the best way to curb this type of illegal activity,” Hafner said.
