TABC Investigating the Republic Bar

A North Texas bar and restaurant is being investigated by the state.

According to the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission, the Republic Bar and Restaurant is under investigation because it may have been pouring cheap liquor into more expensive bottles using funnels.

"The indication would certainly be they were quite possibly refilling," said TABC Capt. Charlie Cloud.

The TABC had suspended alcohol sales at the Republic because the establishment owed the state tax money, the agency said.

But, the the TABC said the restaurant has since paid and can continue serving alcohol while the investigation is under way.
