CLEVELAND, Texas - A welfare check on a family in San Jacinto County led to the discovery of four bodies in an apparent triple murder and a suicide.
Sheriff James Walters on Monday said it appears the suspected gunman "might have been off his medication." Walters declined to elaborate.
Walters told The Associated Press that the bodies of the suspect's girlfriend, her 7-year-old daughter, an additional woman and a man were found Saturday night.
Walters says it appears the man killed the trio, then himself at a house in a rural area about 15 miles northwest of Cleveland, Texas.
Names of the victims were not immediately released by the sheriff.
The site is about 55 miles north of Houston.
