DALLAS - Clarice Tinsley’s Hometown Hero this week is a lion that can read – Lyndale the Literary Lion.
Lyndale is the creation of Joseph Jammer, the assistant teen center coordinator for the Dallas Public Library System.
Jammer said he created the character seven years ago and named him in honor of his son because he wants children to learn, understand and communicate. He believes the best way for them to do that is to read books.
Wearing a lion costume with full mane and make-up, Jammer reads stories to children.
His lion theme song is “I Love to Read.” It’s a bouncy and wonderful tune about staying in school, having good character and loving books.
Lyndale joins FOX 4 as a proud sponsor of The Mayor's Summer Reading Program. For more information, visit http://www.dallaslibrary2.org/summerReadingProgram/index.php .
