A North Texas soldier on tour in Iraq got the news that a thief here at home has stolen three of his most prized possessions.

Lana Tomblin said her husband’s English bulldogs – Roxie and her two puppies named Georgia and Molly – are gone.

The trio disappeared Monday morning after their usual romp. The family’s backyard gate was open, but Tomblin said the dogs can’t open it on their own.

She suspects a thief grabbed the dogs. The puppies are worth about $1,000 each, she said.

The dogs are worth much more to the family. Tomblin said they’ve been a source of strength while U.S. Army Warrant Officer Chris Tomblin is overseas.

“They've helped allot with him being gone. They were a highlight and now they're gone," she said.

She considered not telling her husband.

“I couldn't keep it to myself anymore. When he called I was crying. He knew something was wrong,” Tomblin said.

The family has filed a police report and put up fliers in their Seagoville neighborhood.

"I'm thinking somebody just didn't care. I'm hoping someone will see. Maybe they'll get home," Tomblin said.

Seagoville police said they are following up on leads. They do have a person of interest, they said.
