COLUMBUS, Ohio - A new study says that student Facebook users may be threatening their grades by as much as a full letter by letting their online friending habits get out of hand.

But most students say the social network didn't interfere with their studies.

The Ohio State University study quizzed 219 college students about their general study and internet habits, along with their specific Facebook habits.

The research revealed that those who used Facebook had a "significantly" lower grade point average.

"It is the equivalent of the difference between getting an A and a B," said researcher Aryn Karpinski.

The study shows that 65 percent of Facebook users access their account daily, often checking it several times for new messages. Some people spend just a few minutes on the site, others spend more than an hour.
