University of Texas at Arlington students are rattled after a rash of recent robberies.
School officials said several students have been approached by a group of robbers who ask to use a cell phone. The victims are punched in the face and mugged.
One incident took place Nov. 5 near a faculty parking lot off 3rd Street on campus. Two robberies occurred Thursday night near the Forest Glen Apartments and a four occurred Sunday, school officials said.
Warnings have been posted around campus. An e-mail alert has also been sent out to students.
"The e-mails said people were walking and someone got out of a car and just took their wallet," said student Colin Knudson.
Many students like Catalina Anderson are now on guard.
"I'm concerned because I walk on campus late at night," she said. "My dad gave me pepper spray, so I walk around with it in my hand, like I'm ready to go."
Student Heather Morgan said it worries her because she is a girl.
I come to campus by myself and I leave campus by myself so it definitely worries me," Morgan said.
UTA police said the robbers have taken off once on foot and in different vehicles the other times.
They have not released a detailed description of the suspects.
