AZLE, Texas - A well-known Tarrant County man was killed in an alcohol-related crash.
Larry Thompson was a retired hospital administrator who spent a lot of his free time on the Azle Community Theatre stage.
He was headed home after a performance Saturday night when police said 34-year-old Jeffery Drew Lamar collided with him on Robertson Road in Fort Worth. The impact killed Thompson.
Lamar apparently told witnesses at the scene he had just come from a bar. He will face intoxication manslaughter charges when he recovers from his own crash-related injuries, police said.
Judi Thompson said her husband’s death hasn’t sunk in yet.
“He just loved being involved in the community. He loved dealing with people, and he was good at it,” she said.
In addition to acting and more than 30 years in hospital administration, Thomspon served as the executive director of the Northwest Tarrant Chamber of Commerce.
