Young Marine Hailed as Hero

    A young North Texas Marine killed in Afghanistan is being remembered as a hero.

    Lance Cpl. Shawn Hefner of Hico was killed on Friday when he stepped on an improvised explosive device.

    Devastated friends and family of the 22-year-old were preparing to welcome him home for Thanksgiving.

    They said Hefner had recently been promoted and that they were looking forward to celebrating with him.
