MCKINNEY, Texas - A North Texas woman was killed on Tuesday when an 18-wheeler struck her Honda sedan, officials said.
The incident happened at about 8:20 a.m. on Highway 380 at Bridgefarmer Road in McKinney.
According to the Department of Public Safety, 54-year-old Catheline Peppers of Nevada, Texas was traveling westbound on 380 when she stopped her Accord at a traffic light.
A semi approaching from the rear of the vehicle failed to stop, colliding with the Honda, the DPS said.
It said the truck driver, 53-year-old David Beachem of Georgia, apparently did not see the red traffic signal.
Peppers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Beachem was not injured.
Alcohol is likely not a factor in the crash and no criminal charges have been filed.
However, the incident is still under investigation.
Nevada is located in Collin County, east of Lake Lavon.
