LAVON, Texas - Rain-slicked roads may be to blame for a Collin County accident that killed three people and hospitalized three others.
The incident happened on Highway 78 in Lavon, just south of Lake Lavon in Collin County.
A white Honda minivan hit a white Hyundai sport utility vehicle, causing the minivan to spin off the road and end up with its rear bumper halfway up a tree.
According to authorities, two people died at the scene. One more died at a local hospital.
Three others remained hospitalized Friday afternoon.
The Department of Public Safety identified the victims as:
Andrea Dunn of Nevada, DOB 9/14/67, Honda van driver - deceased
Margaret McIlvan of Nevada, DOB 10/17/35, Honda van passenger - deceased
John McIlvan of Nevada, DOB 6/17/33, Honda van passenger - deceased
Unidentified 4-year-old girl, Honda van passenger, non-life threatening injuries
Tommie Chambers, 35 of Wylie, Hyundai driver - hospitalized
Ariel Langford, 15 of Wylie, Hyundai passenger - hospitalized
