DALLAS - Overnight and early-morning storms left behind damage and flooding in some parts of North Texas.

One of the areas hardest hit was Ellis County, where storms Wednesday night blew over more than a dozen sheds that had been set up at businesses along the roadway.

The incident happened at about 8:00 in Waxahachie, off Highway 287, near Ennis.

Some of the sheds were ripped to pieces and one landed on top of two vehicles -- a pickup truck belonging to a restaurant patron and a Hummer sport utility vehicle being sold for $50,000.

Tim Welch, who said it took him weeks to put up the sheds, also said he had just finished installing the last one before the storm hit.

"A loud, howling wind. Like I said, everything was going straight sideways. Heavy rain, too. It was bad," Welch said. "We got a mess to clean up."

Across the highway, a carport collapsed on top of another vehicle.

The storm also knocked out power to a portion of the area.

About 40 people had taken shelter inside a barbecue restaurant at the location.

No injuries were reported.

Also Wednesday night, heavy rain flooded portions of Grand Prairie. In the area where Davis Street becomes E. Main Street, a car became submerged in floodwater.

Rain also flooded an underpass at a railroad bridge.

No one was injured.

Elsewhere, a second round of storms pummeled the Southlake area, along Highway 114 around 4:30 Thursday morning.

Lightning from that storm is blamed for sparking a fire a million-dollar home there. However, the residents and their pets made it out safely, and firefighters were able to douse the flames before they destroyed the house.

As residents clean up and affected areas dry out today, another round of storms is in the forecast for later tonight.

In fact, FOX 4 meteorologist Evan Andrews said there is a 40 percent chance for scattered showers and storms.
