Emily Lopez is originally from Brooklyn, New York, but don't ask her if she's a Yankees or Mets fan. The issue is the source of much angst within the Lopez household back home in New York.

She's especially proud of her Puerto Rican roots and her ability to dance to salsa and merengue.

Emily started her journalism career in San Antonio, where she worked on the Four San Antonio Living Show.

From there, she made her way to Lubbock, where she covered everything from the cotton crop to the court beat.

Her next stop? Asheville, North Carolina, home of the famed Baltimore Estate, Grove Park Inn, and not too far from the Pisgah National Forest.

That's where Emily learned to enjoy camping and hiking. After a two year stint in the western part of the state, she moved to Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina.

She spent three years there covering breaking news, crime, college basketball and a number of hurricanes on the eastern North Carolina coast.

Her favorite ways to spend time include visiting with family and friends, dining out and cooking.
