NEWS
DIRECTOR: Regular Full-Time: Experience with newsroom computer systems and studio automation required. Familiarity with ELC is a plus. Excellent communication skills and a passion for news content and, an eagerness to collaborate with producers, supervisors and directors. Must be able to handle multiple technical responsibilities and changes during a fast paced newscast; including ELC, video and CG playback. Requires a creative eye to recognize opportunities to showcase big stories and have the ability to explain the vision to the production crew.
Bachelor's degree or equivalency required. Five [5] or more years' experience in a medium or large television market directing daily live newscasts. Position requires the handling of multiple demands with professionalism and results. Ability to work under pressure as part of a cohesive team. This person must have clear verbal skills and a calm, patient, positive demeanor.
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER: Regular Full-Time: The Executive Producer oversees all aspects of our 4 ½ hours morning newscast. The Executive Producer will guide daily editorial direction and helps plan and oversee guest bookings and segment ideas and development. The position will oversee Producers, Associate Producers, Anchors and Reporters in the selection and formatting of stories. Responsible for approving scripts, teases and graphics as well as assist with the coordination of technical and logistical elements of Good Day. Responsible for writing employee evaluations and in conjunction with Human Resources, handling all employee issues within the department.
4-year degree is required with an emphasis in communications or journalism preferred. Minimum of five (5) years' producing experience in Top 30 market including morning show producing experience. Two (2) years management experience strongly preferred. Ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Must be a strong leader and communicator and possess good time management skills. Good editorial judgment and understanding the legal and ethical parameters for mass media is essential. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Producers must have the ability to overcome anticipated and unexpected obstacles when trying put together newscasts. Unexpected obstacles could include, but are not limited to technical problems, new developments with stories, breaking news and logistical problems. Strong writing and communication skills are required. 4 year college degree required. Emphasis in communication and journalism preferred. 2-4 years medium to major market experience required. 5 years in major market preferred.
REPORTER: Regular Full-Time: Provide original news content for KDFW FOX 4, myfoxdfw.com, and associated media partners by successfully accomplishing the following responsibilities: gather news information; write news stories, and doing taped and live interviews and reports for KDFW FOX 4, myfoxdfw.com and associated media partners. Must contribute to social media efforts; Initiate research and enterprise stories; Update and follow up on stories and communicate with managers and assignment editors about past, current and future stories. May Anchor on a part time or fill-in basis. Complete required administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Perform other duties as assigned.
Must have a broad working knowledge of police procedures, the court system, and municipal, state and federal government operations and must have strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters of reporting for mass media. Ability to work under stressful conditions and deadlines is a must. Maintaining a strong roster of contacts and sources is required. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, and possess specific expertise in research and computer-assisted reporting. Must be a strong writer and communicator and have the ability to shoot and edit video. A professional appearance is essential. Must annunciate clearly, and maintain a clear delivery during both live and taped reports. Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus. 4–year college degree required with emphasis in Communications and Journalisms preferred. 3 -5 years' experience in a medium to major market.
WEB PRODUCER: Regular Full-Time: The Web Producer will perform the duties of online writer/producer, specializing in print style writing, copy editing and editorial gathering. Facilitate, understand and execute the editorial gathering of local web news and reproducing material into strong compelling web material. Knowledge of HTML and Photoshop is required. Ensure myfoxdfw.com is coded to standards consistent with web style guides. Preferred experience in basic AVID editing, iNews and social media including but not limited to Facebook and Twitter.
Bachelor's degree required plus one [1] to two [2] years of web writing and production experience. Knowledge of common web and application architecture. Knowledge and use of writing for print with an emphasis on AP style. Understanding of user online behavior and must be skilled in all areas of A/V digitizing and editing. Position demands excellent print/web writing, web editing, interface design and web production skills. ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE: Regular Full-Time: KDFW/KDFI currently has an opening for an Account Executive. The position will primarily focus on developing new business for Broadcast TV. The successful candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (Top Rated Local News, Fox Network, Fox Sports, My Network TV, Web Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as weekly forecasts, monthly reports, new business trackers, weekly meeting forms and the credit and collection of all accounts.
Ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of success in sales. A four year college degree is required. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills. LOCAL SALES ASSISTANT [2 Positions]: (Full-Time, Reg.): KDFW/KDFI currently has two openings Local Sales Assistants. The Local Sales Assistants are responsible for the day to day tasks involved with the order activity process. These tasks include but are not limited to order entry, order maintenance, and contract reconciliation. The Local Sales Assistants will be responsible for posting schedules and sending spot times to clients on a weekly basis. They will also be responsible for processing and returning paperwork to the Local Account Executives in a timely fashion and confirm that the final contract matches the original order. Will be responsible for the coordination and maintenance of both Wide Orbit and One domain paperwork as well as the filing of the local contracts. The Local Sales Assistant is required to learn industry specific software that is used to input orders, retrieve client information, pull reports (spot times, contracts) and create sales presentations for the Local Account Executives.
Ideal candidates must be highly organized, details oriented and have the ability to prioritize and maintain multiple accounts. A four year college degree is preferred. VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING: Regular Full-Time: Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operations of stations' broadcast equipment including daily oversight of local Hub/Spoke technology to produce efficient, flawless operations. Must effectively manage engineering, production, news technical, facilities, security, mechanical systems and tower/transmitter. Must develop and implement current and long range technical and technological operation plans, prepare departmental expense budgets and oversee the preparation of both current and future capital plans. Must possess the ability to establish procedures and standards for operation and maintenance of equipment and studio operations. Responsible for station compliance with FCC, OSHA and FAA regulations.
Ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of all broadcast systems, government regulations and industry standards to ensure the television stations' technical compliance. Must have significant technical expertise in the planning implementation and maintenance of television station and RF facilities. Understanding of digital and automation technology is essential. Individual must be a strong leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess strong attention to detail, accuracy and strong organization skills. Must have the ability to direct and motivate the technical staff and work well with all station departments. Knowledge of ELC and iTX environments a plus.
