This week's Lone Star Adventure is literally a cool way to spend a blistering hot summer day in Texas. FOX 4's Richard Ray takes us to the Irving Arts Center for Genghis Khan: The Exhibition.
Genghis Khan, one of the greatest conquerors the world has ever known, is the focus of a fascinating new exhibition at the Irving Arts Center. Organizers say it's the biggest project they've ever undertaken.
The exhibit features more than 200 artifacts from the 13th Century and is believed to be is the largest collection ever assembled outside of Mongolia. There are some fantastic finds, including a mummy that was preserved naturally along with the treasures stored in her crypt.
Genghis Khan conquered the world largely because his army was the high tech marvel of its age. Children visiting the exhibit are encouraged to handle the replicas of his weaponry and armor.
A visit to this exhibit could be the perfect way to spend a summer day in Texas because it's so cool inside. The mummy and other priceless artifacts require a room temperature between 60 and 65 degrees. Blankets are provided at the door to keep visitors warm.
Irving is just one stop for this exhibition, which is currently on a world tour. From Irving it will go to Raleigh, North Carolina and then to the Field Museum in Chicago.
For more information about Genghis Khan: The Exhibition please visit the Irving Arts Center website.
