Paterno Testifies He Was Told of Sandusky Abuse

Former Penn State coach Joe Paterno acknowledged in written testimony to a court Friday that he was told of "inappropriate" sexual acts by former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky in 2002.

Paterno's testimony was read at the preliminary hearing in the perjury case against former Penn State athletic director Tim Curley and former university vice president Gary Schultz.

Paterno said in the statement that he ordinarily would have notified his superiors immediately, but did not want to interfere with their weekends.

Paterno had met on a Saturday morning with then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary about the alleged abuse.

McQueary testified earlier Friday that he believes he saw Sandusky raping a young boy in 2002 and said he reported the information to school officials.
