Court To Hold Lottery For Seats At Sandusky Preliminary Hearing

A lottery will be held for members of the public who want to watch next Wednesday's preliminary hearing of a case involving accused child molester Jerry Sandusky, Centre County Court officials announced.

The 67-year-old former Penn State assistant football coach has been charged with sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year period, but he denies the allegations.

The Centre County Court of Common Pleas said applications for seating would be accepted on its website for 24 hours starting Wednesday at noon local time.

Those selected in the random draw will be notified Friday, ahead of the hearing that starts Dec. 13 and is expected to last several days.

FOX News reported last month that all eight of the alleged victims are expected to testify.

Also, the independent student newspaper at Penn State is reporting that former head football coach Joe Paterno had close business ties with board members of The Second Mile, the charity founded by Sandusky.

The Daily reports that Paterno and the board members were partners in ventures including a luxury retirement center.
