Cicero police and Chicago FBI agents are hoping you can help them close the books on a nearly seven year old murder investigation.
Cook County prosecutors charged 48 year old Jose S. Rodriguez with first degree murder back in 2004, and he hasn't been seen since.
Rodriguez is accused of fatally shooting Gabriella Rodriguez at his Cicero home on November 6, 2004. Investigators say a fight broke out during a late night party; at the time, Rodriguez lived in the 5800 block of West 35th Street. When the dust settled, FBI's Mike Kosanovich says "One victim was bound and gagged and the second victim, Gabriella Rodriguez, was found shot to death." Investigators confirm the suspect and the victim did know each other but were not related, despite having the same last name. They also say the reason for the shooting is unclear.
The search for Rodriguez initially focused on Mexico because he and his wife are from Durango, Mexico. Police learned early on that Rodriguez took his wife and children back to Mexico about a month before the murder and that he returned to Cicero. Agents also learned Rodriguez went back to Mexico shortly after the murder. Since nearly seven years have passed, they believe he may feel comfortable enough to return to the Chicago area again.
Here is a description of what agents say Rodriguez looks like. He is described as a Hispanic male, about six feet tall, weighing around 200 pounds, with a medium build and a medium complexion. He also goes by the name 'Chavo Rodriguez'.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
