DC Fire and EMS Units Deal With Frigid Weather

On this coldest night of the season, about the only people who should be venturing outside are those who have no choice. Among them are the men and women of the D.C. Fire and EMS department.

FOX 5 spent a few hours riding along with firefighters from Engine Company 10 and Truck Company 13 in Northeast.

Among their many calls for service was to a report of fire at a Capitol Hill restaurant. Nobody was injured in the fire at La Lomita on Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.

A nearby D.C. Water crew was busy repairing a broken water main.

A D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman says hospitals in the District were busier than normal Tuesday partly because of the frigid weather. Those crowded emergency rooms caused backups in some ambulance services across the city.
