Dennis Rubin sat down with the FOX 5 News at 10 to discuss his tenure as D.C. fire chief. (VIDEO)
D.C. Fire Chief Dennis Rubin has announced his resignation Friday. He will be leaving his position effective January 2, 2011.
Rubin is the second high-profile member from Mayor Adrian Fenty’s administration who has decided to step down. D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee announced her resignation from her post last week.
D.C. Council Chairman Vincent Gray won last month's primary election over Fenty for mayor and the Democratic nominee is expected to win the upcoming November 2 general election.
Dennis Rubin's Resignation Letter
"I will be leaving the District of Columbia Fire Department effective January 2, 2011 as the new Administration takes over. My current plan is to provide consultant services until I find a full time position that is a good fit for me. I wanted everyone to know how to maintain contact with me and thank everyone for their support during the last four years. What a great opportunity that Mayor Fenty has provided and I will leave this great City without regret."
