Denton County Cowboy Church burns

Posted: Updated:
DENTON, Texas -

A Saturday fire destroyed their building but Sunday morning found members of The Denton County Cowboy Church in Ponder crowding into a tent, giving praise and vowing to rebuild.

They came on Sunday morning by the hundreds, overflowing a makeshift tent, not far from the building. Nearly 500 came to sing, to be baptized and to pray.

"God thank you for all the hands that happened, that showed up today and made today happen," Pastor Brandon Henderson prayed. "God we just ask your blessing on them."

Even before the fire trucks left on Saturday help was arriving, the big tent came from a church in Greenville and chairs from several sources -- all that was needed for Sunday Service.

Events in the rodeo arena will go on as planned in the coming weeks -- Pastor Brandon Henderson says the church had nearly outgrown its building anyway - he wants to rebuild -- bigger.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine a cause.
