911 Calls from Senser hit-and-run released

Posted: Updated:

Audio of the 911 calls made the night of the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed Anousone Phanthavong has been released, and it paints a gruesome picture told through the voices of the Good Samaritans who stopped at the scene.

"You alright, buddy?" the first caller, who identified himself an employee at a nearby hospital, shouted to Phanthavong.

The first caller parked and walked back to the man lying in the ramp to try see if he was alive. He also tried to flag down a cab to shine a light on the body to give more information to dispatch.

"He's not talking," he said, adding that the Phanthavong was lying 50 feet from his car. "I can't tell if this guy is alive or dead right now."

The second caller did not expect Phanthavong to be alive, reporting a "body on the ramp."

"I'm pretty sure he's dead," she said, tearfully. "I didn't get out of the car because I don't know if it's safe."

The caller said she saw a man on the phone, standing next to the body.

After pulling off near the construction signs, the caller emotionally related the details of the scene, telling 911 dispatchers that Phanthavong's shoes were in the road. Neither she nor the previous caller saw the crash.

The third caller referred to it as a "major, major accident" when requesting an ambulance. She watched as the police arrived, saying that the victim's clothes were severely disturbed and at least four vehicles had stopped at the scene to try to help.
