A 66-year-old grandmother will spend four years in prison for roughing up the babies she was baby-sitting.
Carolyn Easton was convicted on three counts of felony injury to a child.
Prosecutors said about a year ago the parents of the 5-month-old triplets she had been hired to care for installed a nanny camera inside a smoke detector.
The hidden camera recorded at least 13 minutes of video where Easton could be seen pulling, jerking and slapping the children. At one point she even walked around the house holding one child only by the arm.
The judge in the case ordered Easton to receive psychiatric treatment, pointing out she perhaps suffers from a form of mental illness. But prosecutors disagree.
"When the mother is around her she treats these kids like she's supposed to, which demonstrates it's not mental illness. It indicates she knows right from wrong. She chooses to do it when she thinks no one's watching. And the first day they install this nanny cam this is what they see," said Prosecutor Eric Nickols.
The mother of the triplets sobbed while testifying at the sentencing hearing.
Easton was given the option of testifying in her defense but chose not to take the stand.
Prosecutors had asked the judge to give her 10 years behind bars.
"We wanted more, but like I said we're just glad she's not out on probation," Nickols said.
The four years Easton received will include the year she's already spent locked up.
