Police investigate newspaper ad selling newborn

Posted: Updated:

A Dallas woman is being investigated for allegedly trying to sell her newborn baby boy via newspaper classifieds.

According to investigators, a tipster called 911 on Friday morning to report the incident. That person, claiming to have responded to the ad, said the mother offered to sell the infant for $4,000.

Sources tell FOX 4 that the FBI is involved and that both Dallas and Plano police are investigating because the woman may have addresses in both cities.

Child Protective Services is also on the case but did not take custody of the child.

The child was never sold, officials said.
